With a garage for a workshop and a $5,000 investment, The Wood Carte was initially launched in 1982 by brothers Lindsay, Kelly and Chris Carte. Although The Wood Carte has continued to evolve, the ultimate goal remains the same today as it was in the very beginning - unequaled selection and consistent value in real wood home furnishings.
In the beginning the Cartes built and stained every item that filled their modest showroom. Back then orders were taken, built and finished very quickly - usually within a few days. |

It takes a little longer for custom work these days, but with 14,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space many, many stock items are ready for immediate purchase.
It is a joy to see the many loyal customers who continually visit to discover what's new and exciting at The Wood Carte. Currently, the Glens Falls and Rutland stores combine to fill 17,000 sq. ft. of floor space with quality products from over 60 different manufacturers. Patrons may also special order items not regularly stocked. |

New York 12804 (tele. 518-793-7655); 256 North Main Street, Rutland,
Vermont 05701 (tele. 802-775-7220). Our upstate New York store serves
the Glens Falls, Saratoga Springs, Lake George, Albany, Schenectady,
Troy and Adirondack Park regions. Our Vermont store serves the Rutland,
Killington, Bennington, Lake Bomoseen, Woodstock, Manchester and
Ludlow regions. In business since 1982. We sell beautiful, heirloom
quality, real wood furniture. We also offer custom finishing. We
sell dining room furniture, living room furniture, bedroom furniture,
home entertainment furniture, home office furniture, rustic furniture,
amish furniture and patio furniture.
The
Wood Carte is sometimes incorrectly referred to as: The Wood Crate or The
Woodcrate or The Wood Cart or The Woodcart.
The actual name is derived from the family surname of the owners and founders:
Lindsay, Kelly and Chris Carte.
